The Latin American dubbing is generally made in Mexican dubbing studios, reason why the majority of the most popular cartoons have always had certain traces of Mexican dialect and culture (Macchi, 2015). In these dubbings there is a tendency towards domestication in its translations (Macchi, 2015). However, popular cartoons of the latest years seem to be presenting signs of greater neutralization and even some foreignization. This research searches to demonstrate that in the last couple of years, tendencies in Latin American dubbing for cartoons is slowly changing and straying away from domestication. To achieve this objective, I will utilize an animated series that is quite popular nowadays, Adventure Time. This series and its development through time will allow us to analyze the translation methods employed throughout the years. This research will have a focus on the series’ songs, comparing the original version with the Latin American dubbing. After the analysis, we can conclude that even though it seems everything points towards the withdrawal of domestication tendencies, there are still plenty of other factors which influence the decisions of the translators and dubbing directors
