The present research aims to understand the co-constructed meanings around self-management in the social practices and linguistic discourses of those who inhabit La Casa, a housing space reclaimed for the making of arts and self-education in Valparaíso. The concept of self-management can be understood both from a neoliberal and an anarchic perspective, and it’s in the latter that we focus on, for it’s coherent with the political horizon that seeks the autonomy of individuals and groups over the regulation of the State. In behalf of this, we performed a focused ethnography, constructing data from participant observations and workshops with group work dynamics. It’s concluded that the praxis of this self-management project is based on ethical and political meanings, which introduce a proposal of resistance against hegemonic logics and strengthens commitment in the face of the tensions experienced on a daily basis by its inhabitants
