The present study has as objective to determine the appreciation that eighth graders sustain after the application of the SIMCE-EF and a new proposal of evaluation presented, additionally to determine the more significative differences between them. For this, 107 eighth graders were evaluated, from three different educational institutions in Viña del Mar, through SIMCE EF and the relevance evidence corresponding to the new proposal of evaluation. The results achieved enabled it to make a comparison between these two tests used to enhance the quality of physical education in Chile, and also observe the students’ perception of each evaluation. To conclude, it is noted that both tests have different insights, but the new evaluation proposal was found more beneficial, than SIMCE-EF, for it six relevant elements. This reinforces the need to enhance the quality of evaluations in physical education, which must look for a system that encourage the development of all the dimensions of physical education and not only the fitness condition
