<p>Se ha observado un recurrente aumento de peso corporal en escolares, en ciertos periodos críticos, durante el año escolar. Esto se debería a un aumento en la cantidad de calorías consumidas y a una disminución del gasto energético. Por su parte, en nuestra cultura, las fiestas patrias se caracterizan por un gran consumo de alimentos y bebidas con una alta densidad calórica. Una variación en el peso corporal, durante este periodo, ha sido asociada a diversos factores, sin embargo es escasa la literatura científica que asocie el Fitness Muscular y/o Cardiorrespiratorio como factores protectores de este fenómeno en escolares.</p><p>Objetivo: El presente estudio tiene como finalidad determinar la influencia del indicador de Fitness Global (Fitness Muscular y Cardiorrespiratorio) en la variación del peso corporal en escolares durante las Vacaciones de Fiestas Patrias (VFP).</p><p>Metodología: La recogida de datos se llevó a cabo en el establecimiento educacional subvencionado de la V región “Diego Velázquez”. La muestra final corresponde a 68 alumnos de quinto a XV octavo básico. Las evaluaciones se realizaron durante cinco semanas consecutivas en el mes de septiembre, incluyendo la semana de VFP. Se evaluaron las variables de Fitness Muscular (FM) a través de la fuerza relativa (dinamómetro manual/peso corporal), Fitness Cardiorrespiratorio (FCR), a través de test naveta, y el peso corporal (balanza digital calibrada previamente). Con los valores de FM y FCR se calculó un Z-score ajustado por sexo (Fitness Global: Score = Z-score VO2máx + Z-score fuerza relativa). Los escolares fueron divididos en tertiles: bajo, moderado o alto Fitness Global.</p><p>Resultados: Al analizar la variación del peso corporal en los grupos de bajo, moderado y alto Fitness Global, el único grupo que aumentó significativamente de peso durante las VFP fue el bajo Fitness Global (0,452±0,480 kg, p=0,040). En general, se observa un aumento significativo en el peso corporal tras las VFP (0,377±0,620 kg) en todo el grupo (n=68). Durante la semana anterior y posterior a las VFP los escolares aumentan de manera regular su peso corporal (0,077±0,455 y 0,122±0,443 kg, respectivamente, p=0,570).</p><p>Conclusión: Se concluye que, tanto un moderado como alto nivel de Fitness Global ejerce un efecto protector en el aumento del peso corporal en escolares durante las VFP</p>
<p>There has been a recurring increase regarding body weight in students in some critical periods during the scholastic year. The possible cause is due to the increase of calories burnt and a decrease in energy expenditure. Meanwhile in our culture, the national holidays are characterized by a high consumption of drinks and food with a high caloric density. During this period, a variation in body weight has been associated with a number of factors. However, there is very little scientific literature deeming muscular Fitness and/or Cardiorespiratory protecting factors of this phenomenon in students.</p><p>Main Aim: The present research has the purpose of establishing the indicator influence of Global Fitness (Muscular and cardiorespiratory fitness) regarding body weight variation in students during the national holidays.</p><p>Methodology: Data collection was carried out at the subsidized educational establishment of the V region, Diego Velázquez. The final sample corresponds to 68 students from fifth to eighth grade. The evaluations were made over a consecutive time of five weeks within the month of September, including the national holidays week. Muscular fitness (MF) changes were evaluated through the relatives strengths (hand dynamometer/ body weight), Cardiorespiratory fitness (CRF) through a test course-navette, and the body weight (digital balance previously calibrated). With the MF and CRF values, a Z-score was calculated and also adjusted by gender (Global Fitness: Score=Z-score VO2máx + Z-score relative strength). The students were separated by tertiles: low, moderated and high Global Fitness.</p><p>Results: The only group with significant increase in body weight over the FPV was the low Global Fitness (0.452±0.480 kg, p=0.040). In general, a significant body weight increase has been seen during the FPV (0.377±0.620 kg) in the entire group (n=68). At the previous and later time of the FPV, students showed a regular increase in their body weight (0.077±0.455 and 0.122±0.443 kg, respectively, p=0.570).</p><p>Conclusion: It is concluded that much as a moderated and a high Global Fitness level, makes a protector effect in students, regarding to body weight increase all along the FPV</p>
