Self-care in psycho-social workers is a highly addressed subject in the academic world, due to the high probability that social workers will suffer from burnout. Nevertheless, most studies focus on preventative strategies that already exist instead of exploring the practice of self-care. This cualitative investigation is a study case that delves into the socio-political context, the history, and the particular relationships of workers in a program of specialized intervention ("PIE", in Spanish) in San Felipe city. The objective is to understand the significance that these workers attribute to self-care. Three focus sessions and a semi-structured interview were held to collect data, and an analysis was done to interpret it. The findings demonstrate that self-care practices emerge in the communities formed by workers in the "PIE", and that from mundane and spontaneous relationships arise reflection and learning that allow us to identify the place and meaning of the concept of self-care for these workers
