Based on these data, the distribution companies can generate relevant knowledge for decision making. The focus of the present research is, on the one hand, the discovery of common patterns of customers, based on smart meters data. For this reason, several consumer representations were elaborated, from which similar clients were grouped, applying a clustering algorithm. This work also involved the training and evaluation of forecasting models for electricity consumption, using small time intervals. The results obtained from the clustering allowed the recognition of different customer segments, which, although not representative in terms of quantity, contributed a high percentage of the total consumption. Regarding the forecast models evaluated, a good performance was obtained, above 99% in the correlation coefficient
