This project presents a model that allows to forecast the capture level of anchovies in the northern part of Chile. This pelagic species is found throughout the entire Chilean territory and its importance relies on the economic contribution the catches have for the fishing industry. Since 1983, the capture activity of this resource is found subject to regulations due to the downfall of the anchovy population. Under this scenario, it becomes important to present models that will help make decisions that will ensure sustainability of the stock and the reproductive process. The model consists of the implementation of a polynomial neural network with optimized parameters. These parameters where adjusted by an alternative of the evolutionary algorithm called, Particle Swam Optimization, using historical capture levels data of the anchovies as inputs and separating them as high and low frequency data. Finally, the improved configuration obtained an explained variance of 98.6% for next months catch and an explained variance of 94% for the fourth month
