| Resumen | dc.description | <p>El presente informe trata sobre la factibilidad de implementar IPv6 en la Escuela de Ingeniería Informática de la PUCV, llevando a cabo como primera medida la descripción de qué es esta nueva versión (IPv6) del protocolo IP, cómo funciona y las diferencias que posee dicha versión en comparación al actual utilizado IPv4.<br /><br />Para comprobar si el cambio es factible se investigó la situación actual de IPv4 en la Escuela y se llevaron a cabo múltiples pruebas y pequeños prototipos con el fin de llegar a una conclusión y corroborar si es realmente conveniente realizar la migración de IPv4 a IPv6 en este momento. También se discutió sobre el método de seguridad más apropiado que ofrece Wi actualmente utilizando IPv4, y según la investigación realizada se concluyó que por motivos técnicos se usará el Portal Cautivo. Posteriormente se probó la compatibilidad de los servicios que se utilizan en la Escuela con esta nueva versión del protocolo IP.</p> | |
| Resumen | dc.description | <p>This report discusses the feasibility of implementing IPv6 in the School of Computer Engineering of the PUCV, performing as a first step description of what is this new version (IPv6) of the IP protocol, how it works and the differences that have that version compared to the currently used IPv4.</p><p>To check if the change is feasible we investigated the current status of IPv4 and performed multiple tests and small prototypes in order to reach a conclusion and confirm if it is really convenient to migrate from IPv4 to IPv6 at this time. They also discussed the appropriate method of security offered by Wireless currently using IPv4, and according to research concluded that this method corresponds to captive portal by technical reasons. Then we tested the compatibility of the services utilized in school with the new version of IP protocol</p> | |
