<p>En Chile, los fenómenos de Floraciones de Algas Nocivas (FAN) se concentran principalmente en las regiones de Los Lagos, Aysén y Magallanes, dichos eventos pueden contaminar mariscos con toxinas y a su vez generar un problema de salud pública y/o afectar negativamente la producción del sector pesquero, al comercio y al turismo. Por lo tanto, es necesario mantener monitoreadas las zonas afectadas y construir modelos para predecir el comportamiento de dichos fenómenos.</p><p>En este proyecto se desarrolla un modelo para pronosticar la presencia de Alexandrium Catenella (microalga nociva, fuente de marea roja) en la región de Magallanes, utilizando Máquinas de Soporte Vectorial de Mínimos Cuadrados (LS-SVM) y algunas variantes de Optimización por Enjambre de Partículas (PSO).</p><p>Los resultados de las pruebas se analizan ocupando las métricas: precisión y sensibilidad. El mejor resultado se obtiene con el modelo LS-SVM APSO (Optimización por Enjambre de Partículas Adaptativo), logrando una precisión de 85% y una sensibilidad de 80%</p>
<p>In Chile, the phenomena of Harmful Algal Blooms (HABs) are a problem mainly concentrated in Los Lagos, Aysén and Magallanes regions. These events can contaminate seafood with toxins and become a public health problem, affecting negatively the fisheries sector, commerce and tourism. Under the above context, it is necessary to keep the affected areas monitored and try to predict the behavior of these phenomena.</p><p>This project has developed a forecasting model of Alexandrium Catenella (microalgae harmful red tide source or HAB) for the Magallanes region, using Support Vector Machine Least Squares (LS-SVM) and some variants by Swarm Optimization Particle (PSO). The results of this study are discussed occupying two metrics: precision and sensitivity.</p><p>The best result was achieved with the LS-SVM model APSO (Particle Swarm Optimization by Adaptive), with which it has obtained an accuracy of 85% and a sensitivity of 80%</p>
