For this a solution is presented, based on the improvement of the system created by Camilo González. This solution consists in the change of the structure, adding the possibility of the development of a self-agitation system that is controlled by computer through a graphical user interface in LabVIEW. This is how the use of an motor is required, which due to the characteristics of the system and its requirements is defined as step by step. In addition, torque and power calculations are performed to be able to size the motor that is finally acquired. Using the Arduino development card, a code is created for motor control, however, it is also necessary the configuration to be able to communicate via the serial port with LabVIEW, which allows the actuate from a graphic interface on the computer. Finally, the results are shown after the modifications made to the structure, as well as the integration of the motor and its control. Obtaining a self-agitated sedimentation system, controlled by a graphical interface that allows the taking and analysis of up to 4 different samples of tailings. The final objective is to obtain a system that replaces the manual sedimentation studies that are usually used, those that present errors in the measurement, thus causing an increase in the expense caused by the high consumption of flocculating chemicals. An automated system would allow the chemist to perform other tasks and not be attentive to the sedimentation test, reduce human error and reduce costs by finding an optimal flocculant dosing point
