| |
Resumen | dc.description |
One of the principal energy goals of the Chile s Energy Policy for 2035 is that at least 60 per cent of the electricity generated in Chile should come from Renewable Energy Sources -RES-, and by the year 2050, the RES should constitute 70 per cent of the electricity generation matrix. This important transition towards a renewable energy matrix will raise new challenges, such as electrical energy storage. The challenge of reducing the variability of these renewable energy sources, due to the inherent intermittency of its nature, it will be an important challenge for the balance of the National Transmission System and the continuity of the electricity supply. Among the measures to be taken to meet those challenges, there would be the implementation of new technologies called Energy Storage Systems -ESS-. In the above context, the general objective of this thesis work is to carry out regulatory, technical and economic studies on different state–of–the-art Energy Storage Systems in order to analyze the different existing Energy Storage technologies and those in development stage in the market and evaluate their implementation in a real project. In light of this research, a mixed-integer linear programming methodology is proposed to obtain the optimal sizing for an Energy Storage System and thus to evaluate its introduction into the commercial operation of the company’s energy projects that operates in the Chilean Electricity Market in order to maximise the operational profits
| |
