The electrical distribution can be defined as a branch of what corresponds to power electrical systems -SEP-, in which in recent years, due to environmental, political, technological factors, among others, a generation method has increased called distributed generation. Distributed generation -DG- is located within the distribution system and has various energy production technologies. This is why this work is framed under the development of a study and analysis of the behavior of voltage regulators, which are part of the distribution system and are affected by the impact caused by the DG in the power flows of the system . The behavior of commercial voltage regulators is studied, as well as the operational functions they have and how they act in response to the different operating conditions of the electrical system. The problems presented by the voltage regulators against the reverse power fluxes are also presented, and like the researchers, they have carried out studies that show the best possible operation against these conditions. Subsequently, and in relation to the above, the different types of energy generation are presented, explained in detail in terms of the technology and operation they have. Subsequently, the different optimization techniques are presented, describing the terminology and concepts that are behind each technique, which have exemplifications for better understanding, later, the choice of the method to be used for the localization problem is made and implemented in a real network, for which evaluations and practical localization strategies are developed and in conjunction with analysis and programming softwares, an algorithm is developed that allows choosing the best location of these elements within the electrical system. Finally, the results obtained from this analysis are presented, to compare the results and robustness of the algorithm. First a system of 17 bars, the second system of 59. The results obtained show the location of the voltage regulators when it is in the presence of distributed generation, as well as a procedure based on the losses presented by the system, for each position, to determine the optimal location of the device
