The present work deals with the "Dimensioning of Great Engines in a Copper Mining Plant", for which it has been divided into four chapters. The first chapter mentions the characteristics of the metal, the types of copper mines, their process of obtaining them, the exploitation, their different types and uses, and the environmental effects of the mining operations. The second chapter describes the process of obtaining the mineral and the equipment used for it. Particularly, the process of reducing the size of the ore, called milling, which begins with the incorporation of the material to the primary crusher, passing through the belts to the stockpile, flotation cells, and finally the concentrate thickener; from which, the material will be transported through pipelines or trucks. Also, this chapter indicates the most powerful equipment involved in the grinding process. The third chapter, shows the methodology used to determine the dimensions of the main equipment involved in the crushing and grinding processes, such as ball mill, Semi-Autogenous Grinding and conveyor belts. Finally, the fourth chapter consists of the economic analysis used to evaluate the replacement of large engines in a mining plant. Concepts such as performance, availability and reliability, load factor, utilization factor and service factor are analyzed. The convenience of replacing the motors of the mining plant is evaluated taking as reference data the sizing carried out in the previous chapter
