Among the activities realized in this project are: the development of a reduced model that represents the behavior of the interconnected SIC-SING system projected to the year 2021; the study of the use of Flexible AC Transmission System -FACTS- technology and in particular the Static Var Compensator -SVC- technology; and the development and implementation of the SVC, PMU -Phasor Measurement Unit-, and POD -Power Oscillation Damper- devices in the reduced system that represents the dynamics of the national interconnected system projected to year 2021. For the implementation of the phasor networks the dynamic behavior of the network was analyzed to find the critical points to locate PMU meters, devices that record the magnitude and angle of the voltage at the points of interest. The measurements obtained by the PMUs were subsequently used to determine the input variables of the power swing absorber, in order to increase the performance of the SVC compensator.Subsequently, analyzes were performed for different contingencies in order to evaluate the performance of the SVC devices, considering a scenario of high demand for wet and dry hydrological systems. This work was performed using the simulation tool EMTP-RV.The results obtained allow to conclude that the FACTS -SVC- technology is a good option to mitigate power oscillations in extensive power systems and, in particular, for the Chilean interconnected systems</p>
