The present thesis represents the investigation and analysis of the mechanical behavior produced by a motor driven by a frequency inverter, provided by the Faculty of Electrical Engineering. By means of a simulation program named SIMULINK, it has been possible to carry out a simulated mathematical model that allows to redo the laboratory tests. Nevertheless, since these analysis aim to achieve a prototype as close to reality as possible, several tests are carried out in order to accomplish an optimal prototype. Therefore, three electrical variables are studied -harmonics, transients and symmetrical components-, which are compared with reality and simulation methods. In order to better understand these electrical variables and the functioning of the frequency inverter, a brief programming manual is developed, enclosing the variables to be studied, which are also elucidated in mathematical terms. By means of tools such as simulation procedures and certain technical measurements, it has been possible to reach an optimum model to compare values and waveforms with the tests developed in the laboratory. Notwithstanding the above, it is possible to achieve the main benefits that the frequency inverter -VdF- delivers to the industrial systems as well as to the motor
