This article is the result of a qualitative investigation with a descriptive-exploratory design, which responds to the question about the relation between place attachment and local participation in the members of a self-managed group. A theoretical revision was done using the discipline of environmental psychology, considering the comprehension of the concepts of place attachment, local participation and territory defense. There were five semistructured interviews done, with their own content analysis. The more relevant results were that the relationship between place attachment and local participation were dynamic and bidirectional, since they constantly influence one another through ever-changing mechanisms. Also, it was possible to observe the reactionary feature in the participation, being that the territory’s defense was one of the main linkages between place attachment and local participation
